Police to use colour bombs while handling rioters

Mumbai, March 24. (PTI): Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil yesterday said that colour bombs and rubber bullets would be introduced in the police force to control rioting mobs.

The colour bombs would help the police in recognising the face of rioters while trying to ecape from the riot scene, Patil, while participating in the debate on supplementary demand for grants for the year 2006-2007 in the Legislative Council, said.

Patil also said that 11,000 persons would be newly inducted into the police force and the jail upkeep would be improved.

Patil, who is holding Home portfolio, said 1,300 children had been rescued by the government this year from child labour and 181 industrialists have been arrested in this regard.
